The Cleveland Moody Radio station (WCRF) played “Forgotten Ones” this morning during a Compassion International child sponsorship promotion.
If you want to call the station and thank them for playing “Forgotten Ones”, please call them at: (440) 546-2250. You can also visit them online at www.moodyradiocleveland.fm.
“Forgotten Ones” was written in 2009 while Jeff Polen was in Uganda, Africa working with an organization called “Watoto”. Jeff was on a team from his church that was helping to build houses for a village of orphans and widows. This was a song that just came pouring out of his heart as he considered God’s heart for the orphan and widow.
Polen later recorded the song to share as a podcast. A video was also created using Jeff’s footage from Uganda. The video can be seen on YouTube at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmZFVcONf2w.
Polen has had an ongoing partnership with Compassion International for many years now, so it was a tremendous joy to hear that WCRF used “Forgotten Ones” in the midst of their child sponsorship campaign.
With “Orphan Sunday” coming up on November 4, we encourage you to take a moment to stop and pray for those around the world who are living without the most basic need of a place to belong. We have updated our free mobile app to include the song “Forgotten Ones”. We have also posted the lyrics below.
Would you consider helping to meet the needs of orphans around the world through prayer and perhaps financial giving?
“Forgotten Ones”
The arms of a child reach out for their home
For the mother and father who are gone
The loneliness lingers
and beats through the heart of the orphan
Who will care for the forgotten ones?
Who will share with God’s daughters and His sons?
Who will make a difference for the Kingdom of God?
Who will care for the forgotten ones?
The heart of a mother is broken in two
As she cries for her children starving for food
She can’t find the answers
why her husband left her a widow
Who will care for the forgotten ones?
Who will share with God’s daughters and His sons?
Who will make a difference for the Kingdom of God?
Who will care for the forgotten ones?
Religion that is pure and is faultless
In the eyes of our Father, of our God
Is to care for the widow and the orphan
We need to give -we’ve been given so much!
Who will care for the forgotten ones?
Who will share with God’s daughters and His sons?
Who will make a difference for the Kingdom of God?
Who will care for the forgotten ones?
